Not only is Starry Hill a place for kids to come to connect with our universe, it is also a place that, as
much as
possible, is run by kids. That's why we have the Star Guides program, now in its third year.
For the 2014 stargazing season, we had three great Star Guides -- Braden, Evan and John. These three
Guides
handled a great variety of tasks... they set up and maintained equipment,
made presentations on telescope use, taught groups how to navigate the night sky, assisted guests as
needed in
finding targets and even led people in doing astrophotography. Wow!
What else is left? Perhaps in future years, Star Guides will even become planetarians (people who create
and
present planetarium shows) -- now that would be really cool!
