Choosing a Telescope | | Recommendation 9: Find a good viewing location What you've learned about real estate is also true about stargazing..... the most important thing for successful
stargazing is location.
From the right location, you will be able to see the Milky Way Galaxy glowing brightly. Thousands of stars will shine
from horizon to horizon. Planets and DSOs
will be tantalizing targets. For many stargazers, the first night under such a sky was all it took to hook them for a
lifetime.
Due to widespread light pollution, finding a good location is getting harder. Consider that unless the
target is brighter than the skyglow, it will be essentially invisible.
So finding a dark sky site to view from is more important than the telescope that is used. To find out the level of
light pollution where you live and for help in finding an even better location, check out Dark Site Finder.
