The Orionids is a meteor shower associated with the most famous comet of all: Comet Halley. Because the debris left behind by this comet is traveling so rapidly, when the bits of dust and rock hit earth, they often appear as glowing 'fireballs' that streak across the sky. The Perseids Meteor Shower is considered by many to be the best meteor shower of the year because of its high hourly rate. This year's show on August 11 will be especially good because it will be joined by Jupiter, Saturn and Mars, and the moon won't be in the way for hours. It's not to be missed! ➜
