Not only is Starry Hill a place for kids to come to connect with our universe, it is also a place that, as
much as
possible, is run by kids. That's why we have the Star Guides program, now in its sixth year.
For the 2017 stargazing season, we have more Star Guides than ever. Pictured here from left to right, are Ryan
Mueller (1 year), Vanessa Lindquist (2
years), Braden Henricksen (6 years),
Brett Emery (3 years), Gwen Pederson (3 years) and Gavin Cole (1 year). Not pictured is John Williams (4 years).
These Star Guides handle a great variety
of tasks... they set up and maintain
equipment, make presentations on telescope use, teach groups how to navigate the night sky, assist guests in
finding targets and even lead people in doing astrovideo and astrophotography. They have collectively given
many hundreds of hours of
their
time. Wow!
