How to: Why Stargaze? ⬅︎
For many people, stargazing is a deeply pleasurable activity. Viewing the brilliance of Venus, the rings of Saturn, the mighty Andromeda Galaxy and more allows us to connect with our universe in many ways. It's science, art, philosophy, history, friendship and sport all at the same time.

Our distant ancestors were pretty much all stargazers. They knew the stars, the motions of the planets and lots of stories about them. Stargazing is truly in our DNA! Sure, light pollution has made it harder for us today but we have tools that our ancestors didn't -- apps, binoculars, telescopes and more that make stargazing better than ever.

You may know that Starry Hill is all about helping people, especially kids, connect with our universe. The Starry Hill Star Guide is our tool to help you be a stargazer. Month by month it gives information about when and where to view planets, the moon, meteor showers, and other things that are going on in our solar system.

The Stargazing Calendar also gives lots of information about viewing targets outside our solar system, in deep space. Some can be viewed naked-eye. More can be viewed with binoculars. And for those with the equipment, we include targets for telescopes. There's something for everyone! Be sure to check out the other topics below.
