2014-6-21: Traveling to the Whirlpool Galaxy ⬅︎
Last week, we took a 25 million light year 'trip' to the Whirlpool Galaxy. To help remember the event, we took some great pics!

The Whirlpool Galaxy is actually one of the closer galaxies to us. But at 25 million light years away, it is still ten times further than our sister galaxy, Andromeda. As you can see, the Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) has an interacting companion (NGC5195) which is connected by a bridge of dust and gas.
